In his early teens, he had a steady diet of punk and metal which sparked his love for the electric guitar.
Learning, growing and evolving, Tye eventually got into prog rock, which bridged into jazz and fusion territory, and everything in between.
Tye studied most any genre and has had his hand in various musical collectives spanning over a plethora of genres, from ambient noise rock, funk, to rap and hip hop and even a reggae project.
“I genuinely love all styles of music;
I love Celine Dion, I adore Disney scores, I’m into Slipknot, and everything in between, long as it’s honest.
Art and music should have everything to do with honest, I believe.
I want to study and digest everything I can from all musical flavors, you can glean so much from any genre or art form, even the ones that aren’t on your immediate radar.
Those styles quickly become some of your favorites after you delve into them a bit.
There’s a new level of respect I have from studying genres I used to hate as a kid.
Country and jazz are my favorites now, 16 year old punk rock Tye would want to beat up current Tye for that, haha!”
Tye has 14 years of teaching experience and is well-versed in instructing Guitar (electric and acoustic concepts), bass, Mandolin, Banjo, Ukulele, Drums, beginner keys, and the language and theory of music in general.
Tye is a member of many active Tulsa bands and is a fill-in or gun-for-hire guitarist and bassist for plenty of pop-up gigs and collectives.
